About Us
DeSEK's mission is to support basic biomedical research on cancer
and to make people aware of the urgent necessity for basic research
which is in the long run the best medicine!
The German Foundation for Cancer Research (DeSEK) was founded in the spring of 2008.
DeSEK is managed by DSZ Deutsches Stiftungszentrum. Its lean but illustrious Board of Trustees decides how the foundation's funds are used. The Managing Director and Member of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Uwe Kirstein, is willing to answer any questions potential donors might have about the Foundation, the Institute of Cell Biology (Cancer Research), Medical School, Essen,Germany,or basic biomedical research in general.
DeSEK is devoted to "exclusively and directly tax-privileged non-profit purposes as defined by §§ 51 ff. of the German Tax Code (AO)". According to a certificate issued by the Neuss Tax Office dated June 23rd, 2009, it promotes "Science and Research." DeSEK is thus entitled to issue receipts for tax purposes for donations and endowment donations.
This means that you can enter a donation or endowment donation made to DeSEK on your tax return!
